The DC Chapter Board of
Directors wish to announce that one of our own, Reginald Thomas, is the
event director for the Dr. Ronald E. McNair Foundation, Inc. For those
unaware, Dr. McNair was one of the seven astronauts who died in the
service of his country in the Challenger disaster of January 28th, 1986.
He was born on October 21, 1950 in Lake City, South Carolina. He is
survived by his wife Cheryl, and two children. He was a 5th degree
black belt Karate instructor and a performing jazz saxophonist. He also
enjoyed running, boxing, football, playing cards, and cooking.
Dr. McNair was assigned as a
mission specialist and was aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger when it
exploded after launch from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, also
taking the lives of six of his compatriots. He was posthumously awarded
the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
The Mission Statement of the
Dr. Ronald E. McNair Foundation reads as follows:
---1) Improve the health status of all citizens in the Pee Dee Region of
South Carolina.
---2) Raise funds for the Building and renovation of the Ronald McNair
Museum.
---3) Keep alive the legacy of a courageous, outstanding American.

The Chief of Staff, Army has
announced the
assignment of DC Chapter member Brigadier General Richard J. Sherlock,
Jr. as Deputy Chief, US Army Reserve.
Trooper Sherlock is currently serving as Deputy Commanding General,
Coalition Military Assistance Training Team, Multi-National Security
Transition Command-Iraq, OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, Iraq |
